Background: Scofield Associates is expanding its program activities in 2021, within the new annual goal of “Development Challenge Engagement” (#Dev-Chall-Enga-2021). Our focus is on the refugees, by engaging on new research and encouraging new partnerships. We are currently seeking consultants for an anticipated research project scheduled to last for 9 – months focusing on providing advice to a development partner on new programs, rapid research and general advice for refugee projects in Kenya.
Objective: The objective of the assignment is to offer remote support development partners Nairobi with technical advice in the later stages of identification of a programme. The process will also include the formulation and finalization of a support programme and underlying programme documentation.
Duration of the Work: The duration of the contract shall be for a maximum of 9 – months. As a consultant, the candidate will represent Scofield Associates as part of a consortium of individuals who will work closely with the partner for the task, and will from time to time submit, and share the progress of activities as agreed.
Duty Station: The consultant will undertake a mix of in-country and distance mode of working (home based and Kenya) based on the agreed work-plan and methodology.
Required Expertise and Qualifications:

A PhD / degree in Law, Criminology, Human rights, Political Science, Development Study, Humanities or any other relevant discipline.

At least 5-7 years of prior work experience in dealing with refugee issues especially in Kenya.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in undertaking research especially in the area of refugee programming.

Evidence of research work and programming focusing on refugee work in Kenya.

Demonstrated experiences and skills in facilitating stakeholder/working group consultations.

Relevant regional and international experience will be an added advantage.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing SOPs especially in the area of refugee programming.

Be able to work within short timelines.
