Navigating Challenges: Paving the Way for African Youth's Role in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals
Briefs and Policy Reviews
Overview
The year 2030 looms as a critical milestone for global progress, encapsulated by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within this global endeavor, Africa emerges as a pivotal player, and its burgeoning youth population stands as a beacon of hope, embodying the vital energy, ingenuity, and potential required to drive sustainable development. However, as Africa advances toward realizing the SDGs, the journey is fraught with multifaceted challenges that impede the full harnessing of its youth potential (AFDB, 2021). Despite these hurdles, strategic interventions by governments, development partners, and regional organizations can pave the way for African youth to catalyze positive change and transformative progress (UNDP, 2021). This policy brief delves into the intricacies of these challenges and offers comprehensive recommendations to bolster the role of African youth in attaining the SDGs, while underlining the urgency of collective action.
