The Horn of Africa enters 2026 navigating a poly-crisis: geopolitical fragmentation, climate catastrophe, and acute debt distress. Official development assistance is declining, trade barriers are rising, and yet East Africa’s growth is projected at 5.8%—the continent’s highest. In this contradictory environment, Scofield Associates has evolved from a specialized consultancy into a critical institutional anchor for governments, development partners, and private-sector clients across nine countries.
Our operating environment is defined by volatility and opportunity. Somalia’s January 2026 presidency of the UN Security Council has offered an unprecedented platform for maritime security advocacy. Simultaneously, Ethiopia-Eritrea tensions over port access, external recognition of Somaliland, and the lingering effects of the region’s worst drought in decades demand real-time, actionable intelligence. The war in Iran has also caused African leaders to rethink sustainability and self-reliance. Against this background, traditional research models face hostility, access constraints, and limited predictive power; open-source intelligence (OSINT) and predictive analytics are no longer optional; they are essential.
Against this backdrop, Scofield Associates has become the indispensable research partner for line ministries, regional bodies (IGAD and African Union), and international donors. Our Data Lake and agentic AI systems will enable us to deliver conflict prediction models, climate shock early warnings, and governance capacity-building with surgical accuracy in 2026. For instance, our “Looking East Anew” briefing will be critical for navigating multipolar alliances with Gulf States and Asian powers, even with the current war in Iran. For private-sector clients, our Red-Yellow-Green framework will be applied to convert regional risk into bankable opportunity, reducing operational overheads by up to 35%.
Institutionalizing African agency remains central to our mandate. From November 11–13, 2026, Nairobi will host the Reset Africa Summit, convened by Scofield Associates. Under the theme “Rethinking Africa’s Strategic Position Amid Global Shifts in Foreign Policy,” the summit will drive homegrown responses to aid contraction, trade realignments, and digital transformation. A Nairobi Declaration emerging from the summit will articulate actionable imperatives for African-led investment, diaspora finance, and institutional reform.
Our 2026 theme, “The Year of Precision,” signals a mature institutional state: we no longer merely collect data, we deploy predictive analytics to preempt conflict, position resources before climate shocks, and strengthen the social contract between states and citizens. From policy briefings and field engagements in the region to the “Reset Africa Summit” in November 2026, our work proves that precision drives impact. The Horn need not wait for global capitals to act.
Scofield Associates stands ready as a research partner, a strategic convener, and a catalyst for lasting stability.
