We are currently updating our roster of consultants to support our growing portfolio of projects. We seek a Climate Change and Adaptation Consultant Expert to provide strategic guidance and technical support on climate risk assessments, adaptation strategies, and climate resilience initiatives.

Objectives:
The Climate Change and Adaptation Consultant Expert will play a crucial role in ensuring that climate change considerations are integrated into Scofield Associates’ projects. Key objectives include:

• Providing technical expertise and guidance on climate change science, vulnerability assessments, adaptation planning, and climate finance.
• Conducting climate risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and adaptation needs assessments to identify climate-related risks and vulnerabilities.
• Developing climate change adaptation strategies and action plans that are aligned with national and international climate policies and frameworks.
• Designing and implementing climate resilience projects and programs to reduce vulnerability and enhance adaptive capacity.
• Providing technical advice and support on climate change adaptation to governments, international organizations, and civil society organizations.
• Conducting research and analysis on climate change impacts, adaptation options, and best practices.
• Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations that clearly communicate climate change findings and recommendations.

Scope of Work:
The Climate Change and Adaptation Consultant Expert will be engaged on a project-specific basis, with the scope of work tailored to the specific needs of each project. Typical tasks may include:

• Conducting climate risk and vulnerability assessments to identify key climate hazards and their potential impacts.
• Developing climate change adaptation strategies and action plans that prioritize vulnerable sectors and communities.
• Designing and implementing climate resilience projects, such as early warning systems, climate-smart agriculture initiatives, and water management projects.
• Providing technical advice and training on climate change adaptation to project stakeholders.
• Conducting research on climate change impacts, adaptation options, and best practices.
• Preparing project proposals, concept notes, and funding applications for climate change adaptation initiatives.
• Representing Scofield Associates at climate change conferences, workshops, and other relevant events.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A Master’s degree in Climate Change, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field with at least five years of relevant experience, OR
• A Bachelor’s degree in Climate Change, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field with at least eight years of relevant experience.
• A PhD in a relevant field is preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in climate change science, vulnerability assessments, adaptation planning, and climate finance.
• Strong understanding of international and national climate policies and frameworks.
• Experience in conducting climate risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and adaptation needs assessments.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other languages is an asset.
