We are currently updating our roster of consultants to support our growing portfolio of projects. We seek a Gender Specialist/Expert to provide strategic guidance and technical support on gender equality, women’s empowerment, and social inclusion across various sectors and contexts.

Objectives:
The Gender Specialist/Expert Consultant will play a pivotal role in ensuring that gender perspectives are integrated throughout Scofield Associates’ project cycles. Key objectives include:

  • Providing technical expertise and guidance on gender analysis, gender mainstreaming, and gender-responsive programming.
  • Conducting gender assessments, audits, and evaluations to identify gender-related issues, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Developing gender-sensitive strategies, policies, and action plans to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Designing and facilitating training and capacity-building programs on gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Collaborating with project teams to ensure the effective integration of gender considerations into project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Representing Scofield Associates in relevant forums and networks on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Scope of Work:
The Gender Specialist/Expert Consultant will be engaged on a project-specific basis, with the scope of work tailored to the specific needs of each project. Typical tasks may include:

  • Conducting gender analyses to assess the differential impact of projects and policies on women, men, and other gender groups.
  • Developing gender-responsive project proposals, log frames, and indicators.
  • Designing and delivering gender-sensitive training and capacity-building programs for staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Providing technical advice and support on gender-related issues to project teams.
  • Conducting gender audits and evaluations to assess the effectiveness of gender mainstreaming efforts.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations that clearly communicate gender findings and recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field with at least five years of relevant experience, OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field with at least eight years of relevant experience.
  • A PhD in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in gender analysis, gender mainstreaming, and gender-responsive programming.
  • Strong understanding of international and national gender equality frameworks and policies.
  • Experience in conducting gender assessments, audits, and evaluations.
  • Excellent facilitation, training, and capacity-building skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other languages is an asset.

This should also be reflected in your motivation statement, your resume and your sample works. This will help us place you in specific projects in specific countries.
