We are currently updating our roster of consultants to strengthen our capacity in addressing the complex challenges and opportunities of urban development. We seek an Urban Planning Consultant Expert to provide strategic guidance and technical support on urban planning, design, policy, and sustainable development.

Objectives:
The Urban Planning Consultant Expert will play a crucial role in ensuring that urban planning and design principles are integrated into Scofield Associates’ projects. Key objectives include:

• Providing technical expertise and guidance on urban planning theories, methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Conducting urban planning assessments, feasibility studies, and master planning to inform urban development projects.
• Developing urban design guidelines, land use plans, zoning regulations, and transportation plans to promote sustainable and inclusive cities.
• Providing technical advice and support to governments, developers, and communities on urban planning and design issues.
• Conducting research and analysis on urban trends, challenges, and solutions.
• Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations that clearly communicate urban planning findings and recommendations.

Scope of Work:
The Urban Planning Consultant Expert will be engaged on a project-specific basis, with the scope of work tailored to the specific needs of each project. Typical tasks may include:

• Conducting urban planning assessments to evaluate the existing urban fabric, infrastructure, and land use patterns.
• Developing master plans and land use plans that guide the future development of cities and regions.
• Designing urban spaces, including street scapes, public parks, and mixed-use developments.
• Preparing zoning regulations and development guidelines to ensure sustainable and equitable development.
• Conducting transportation planning studies to optimize traffic flow, improve public transportation, and promote sustainable mobility.
• Providing technical advice and support to governments, developers, and communities on urban planning and design issues.
• Preparing project proposals, concept notes, and funding applications for urban development projects.
• Representing Scofield Associates at urban planning conferences, workshops, and other relevant events.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field with at least three years of relevant experience, OR
• A Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field with at least five years of relevant experience.
• A PhD in a relevant field is preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in urban planning theories, methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Strong understanding of sustainable urban development principles and practices.
• Experience in conducting urban planning assessments, feasibility studies, and master planning.
• Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other relevant software.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other languages is an asset.

This should also be reflected in your motivation statement, your resume and your sample works. This will help us place you in specific projects in specific countries.
