We are currently updating our roster of consultants to strengthen our capacity in addressing the critical challenges and opportunities in wildlife conservation and environmental management. We seek a Wildlife and Conservation Consultant Expert to provide strategic guidance and technical support on biodiversity conservation, wildlife management, habitat restoration, and sustainable natural resource management.

Objectives:
The Wildlife and Conservation Consultant Expert will play a crucial role in ensuring that wildlife and conservation considerations are integrated into Scofield Associates’ projects. Key objectives include:

  • Providing technical expertise and guidance on wildlife conservation principles, methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Conducting wildlife surveys, ecological assessments, and conservation planning to inform decision-making and promote biodiversity conservation.
  • Developing wildlife management plans, habitat restoration strategies, and anti-poaching initiatives to protect endangered species and their habitats.
  • Providing technical advice and support to governments, conservation organizations, and communities on wildlife conservation and natural resource management.
  • Conducting research and analysis on wildlife populations, ecosystems, and conservation interventions.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations that clearly communicate wildlife conservation findings and recommendations.

Scope of Work:
The Wildlife and Conservation Consultant Expert will be engaged on a project-specific basis, with the scope of work tailored to the specific needs of each project. Typical tasks may include:

  • Conducting wildlife surveys and population assessments to monitor species abundance, distribution, and health.
  • Assessing the ecological integrity of habitats and identifying threats to biodiversity.
  • Developing wildlife management plans that address conservation priorities and mitigate threats to wildlife populations.
  • Designing and implementing habitat restoration projects to improve the quality and connectivity of wildlife habitats.
  • Developing and implementing anti-poaching strategies to combat illegal wildlife trade and protect endangered species.
  • Providing technical advice and training to park rangers, wildlife managers, and community members on wildlife conservation and management practices.
  • Preparing project proposals, concept notes, and funding applications for wildlife conservation initiatives.
  • Representing Scofield Associates at wildlife conservation conferences, workshops, and other relevant events.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Wildlife Conservation, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field with at least three years of relevant experience, OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Conservation, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field with at least five years of relevant experience.
  • A PhD in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in wildlife conservation principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Strong understanding of wildlife ecology, behavior, and population dynamics.
  • Experience in conducting wildlife surveys, ecological assessments, and conservation planning.
  • Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other relevant software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other languages is an asset.

This should also be reflected in your motivation statement, your resume and your sample works. This will help us place you in specific projects in specific countries.
